Tudor Journals
A place for your stories, inspired by their stories!

Hey there, I’m Heather, and in addition to having one of the leading indie history podcasts since 2009, I also design gorgeous planners and journals inspired by Tudor history.

I just received the 2017 Tudor. Planner. It's beautiful. Thank you Heather Teysko!

The Story behind the Fierce Women Journal

The 16th century is the first point at which we start to have really good records for the lives of many women in Europe. It’s also, as historian Sarah Gristwood has written in her book Game of Queens, the age of Queens, with a surprising number of women taking the role of leader, not just in England, but in all of Europe.

The cover of the Fierce Women Journal combines a portrait of the young Princess Elizabeth with the famous Shakespeare quote, “though she be but little, she is fierce.” I thought it was fitting and complementary, given what an amazing Queen Elizabeth would become. Inside there are 120 narrow-ruled pages with quotes from some of the leading women of the 16th century, from Christina de Pizan to Elizabeth I.

Some of the early women writers and poets are featured, as are Queens, and even one woman who was able to hold power as a King’s mistress. These are all women who are powerful in their own ways, and used the resources available to them to live lives that were beyond the expected gender roles, and show the rich tapestry of roles that women could take on in their lives.

The Story Behind the Journals

If you don’t know me yet, hey there, I’m Heather, and in 2009 I created one of the longest continuously running indie history podcasts, the Renaissance English History Podcast (you’re on the site now – feel free to check out the archive, which is just a click away – I think you’ll like it!).
In 2016 I created the Tudor Planner, a gorgeous weekly and monthly planner filled with Tudor history and music. We sold out of the first printing, and people love it! That led to the Henry & Anne Love Journal which featured quotes from the letters of Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn when they first began their courtship.

  • The layout on each page has a quote from one of these fierce women.
  • Room for gratitude and daily love lists round out each page. Not only will you be constantly reminded of the rich tapestry of stories of women who have pushed boundaries, but you’ll also have plenty of room to dream about adding strands to that tapestry yourself!
  • Plus, the cover is gorgeous, and will enhance a desk, night table, kitchen table, or wherever you do your journalling.
  • Just be forewarned – when people see it they will definitely want to pick it up and have a look!
